Ashraf Barhoum Wins the Golden Reel Award for Best Actor at the Tiburon International Film Festival

Palestinian star Ashraf Barhoum won the Golden Reel Award for Best Actor at the Tiburon International Film Festival (TIFF) in California, USA for his role in The Curve by Jordanian director Rifqi Assaf. Barhoum has previously won the Best Actor Award at the Malmö Arab Film Festival in Sweden for the same role in The Curve. The TIFF marks the film's second participation at American festivals as it took part in Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF).

The Tiburon International Film Festival (TIFF)is an annual event, which seeks to provide a greater understanding of the world and its many cultures through the artistic medium of film, and through the top quality films from around the world. TIFF wishes to enhance tolerance between people of all backgrounds. Its goal is one of cultural enrichment and heightened cultural awareness, and to create a platform for the independent filmmakers to express their talent and vision from any nation.

Written and directed by Rifqi Assaf, The Curve stars Palestinian star Ashraf Barhoum, Syrian actress Fatina Layla, Lebanese actor Mazen Moadam and Jordanian actor Ashraf Telfah. The Curve is about Radi, who leads a reclusive life in his own van and finds himself on a road trip with three strangers that alters his clockwork and very private lifestyle.

The Curve had its world premiere at the Muhr Feature Competition within the 12th Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) and its European premiere at the 15th East End Film Festival (EEFF) in the UK. Thefilm was also screened at the 5th Festival International de Cinéma et Mémoire Commune de Nador (International Festival of Common Memory Cinema in Nador) within its Films Long-métrages de Fiction en Competition (Long Feature Films Competition), and the 42nd Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) in the USA, where it had its North American premiere. Most recently, The Curve opened the 6th Arab Film Festival Amman.

The film is a joint production between Jordanian Rula Nasser (The Imaginarium Films), Egyptian Mohamed Hefzy (Film Clinic) and French Xénia Maingo (Eaux Vives Productions). MAD Solutions handles the film's distribution and marketing worldwide.
