With a Panel Talk Moderated by Blue Collar Workers Supporters
Shoghlana Launched as the First Newspaper for Blue Collar Workers
In a historic atmosphere with the Old Cairo wall in the background, and coinciding with Labor Day celebrations in Egypt and worldwide, the first issue of Shoghlana newspaper was introduced during a panel talk at Genaina Theater in Al-Azhar Park, The panel was followed by a concert by The Choir Project Band, whose performance was admired by the audience.
Shoghlana is the first non-profit newspaper that seeks to highlight topics related to blue-collar jobs and workers. The newspaper aims to promote self-appreciation and self-empowerment of blue-collar workers as well as to enhance the societal appreciation of workers in general.
The panel talk witnessed the participation of a group of guests who share the same objectives asShoghlana; namely Maged Toson, Dealer Development Manager at Nissan Egypt, Waleed Quraish, Manager of the Petra Skills &Training Center (the training unit of the Chamber of Printing and Packaging Industries), Ahmed Al Sadaany, Manager of the NEP's Employment Center, Reem Hanna, founder of the "work is worship" initiative for youth empowerment and Haj Mahmoud Helal, retired Unit Manager of Al Ahram newspaper's lathing workshops.
The participants talked about the employment of the blue-collar workers, ways of development, and inspiring success stories, each from their own perspectives and background experiences. By the end of the panel, Alaa Karkouti, CEO of MAD Solutions, talked about the concept of Shoghlana.
Shoghlana's first issue includes articles on the National Employment Pact (NEP) initiative by the German Egyptian Business Community and its Employment Center dedicated to the matchmaking of blue-collar job seekers with open vacancies. Additionally, you can find a profile of a young Egyptian who found a job with the support of the NEP's Employment Center, as well as an article on the history of Labor Day and the eight-hour work day.
Shoghlana is published by MAD Solutions in cooperation with the Project Promotion of Blue Collar Jobs (PBC) by the Deutsche Gesellschaft f├╝r Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. The newspaper's content is created and designed by MAD Solutions.
Shoghlana is a free of charge publication, targeting blue-collar workers and will be published every four months. The content of the newspaper are tailored for Blue Collar workers.
