MAD Solutions Collaborates with the Institute for Arab Culture in Sao Paolo at the 9th Arab Film Festival in Brazil

MAD Solutions collaborates with the Institute for Arab Culture in Sao Paolo (ICArabe) at the 9th Arab Film Festival in Brazil, which started in Wednesday, August, 13th, and will continue till the 16th of September, 2014.

The Arab Film Festival in Brazil started through the São Paulo- based Institute of Arab Film, an independent non-religious organization that promotes Arab culture and history and raises public awareness of their significance in Brazilian society. Currently directed by Geraldo Campos Adriano Godoy, the organization was created as a response to an initiative by a group of intellectuals, writers, scientists and university professors to prove that the demand for such organization is widespread in Brazilian society and for this reason the institute collaborates with high-profile cultural institutions across the world, in promoting different forms of cultural.

MAD Solutions will be represented in the festival through the company's Board of Directors including Film Analyst Alaa Karkouti, CEO of MAD Solutions and Maher Diab, Creative Director and Co-founder, where they will participate in several panels and open discussions, introducing to the Brazilian audience an authentically an open window on the social and cultural aspects of the Arab world.

As part of the festival, MAD Solutions screens a number of Arabic films which have been distributed and promoted by the company throughout the past 2 years:

Villa 69: The film has won the Special Jury prize award for a film from the Arab World at Abu Dhabi Film Festival. Villa 69 is a feature by Ayten Amin and stars Khaled Abol Naga, Arwa Gouda and Egyptian veteran actress Lebleba.

In Search of Oil and Sand: Co-directed by Wael Omar and Philip L Dib, the Egyptian
documentary has received the Best Director Award at the Documentary Competition within the 6th Abu Dhabi Film Festival 2012. In Search of Oil and Sand tracks a historian as he unveils the story behind a film shot by his parents and members of the royal court only a few weeks before the royal Egyptian family was overthrown in a coup d'├ętat in 1952.

My Love Awaits Me by the Sea: A documentary by Jordanian- Palestinian director Mais Darwazah which won the Jury Prize at the Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentaries and Shorts 2014.

Sanctity: Directed by Saudi Filmmaker Ahd, the film tells the story of a young widow who tries her best to protect her unborn child, struggling to pay the debts left behind by her deceased husband. The film has received several awards from international film festivals and is considered the first Saudi film that took part at Berlin International Film Festival.

Harag W' Marag (Chaos and Disorder): A film by Nadine Khan in her first directorial effort. The film received the Jury Prize at Dubai International Film Festival 2012 where it had its world premiere.

Waves: A feature-length documentary by Egyptian director Ahmed Nour which presents a very personal reflection on the Egyptian revolution through the city of Suez where the first spark of the revolution ignited. The film won the Best Feature-length Documentary awardat the Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentaries and Shorts in 2014.

The festival will be divided into four selections: Panorama of the Arab world, Palestinian Cinema, Contemporary Egyptian Cinema and Arab-Latin American Dialogues. The festival will screen 26 films which highlight the cultural diversity of the Arab world. Palestinian Director Hany Abu-Assad's Omar, an Oscar nominee for Best Foreign Film in 2014, will open the festival's programming.
