Hani Osama Contracts with Marwan Hamed to Direct the First Film in the Adham Sabry Franchise

Within his activities at the 14th Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF), Producer Hani Osama, Founder and Managing Partner of The Producers, announced that he signed a contract with director Marwan Hamed to direct the first film in the Adham Sabry franchise. The franchise is based on one of the most popular pocket-sized novels in the Arab world, The Man of the Impossible by author Nabil Farouk. The Producers acquired rights to adapt the novels into a film and TV franchise.

Commenting on this, Osama says, "These books have a fan base right across the Arab world. With all the turbulence in the Middle East, we believe the time is right to present a positive character from the region."

The film will be produced with Mohamed Hefzy's Film Clinic and it is set to begin shooting during 2018, after Director Marwan Hamed finishes shooting his film Diamond Dust that is based on a novel with the same title by writer Ahmed Mourad. Shooting of Adham Sabry is going to take placein Egypt, Dubai, China and Europe. "The Arab world has never made a proper movie in China and it's an important market. We hope to have cast from both China and the UAE." said Osama in a statement to Screen International.

The Man of the Impossible is one of the most popular pocket-sized novels written by Egyptian author Nabil Farouk. The series witnessed a huge success in Egypt and the Arab world as 160 titles were published from 1984 to 2009 and sold over 40 million copies worldwide. It follows the tasks undergone by the Egyptian General Intelligence Directorate (GID) operative Adham Sabry related to protecting national security from threats posed by international organizations and hostile intelligence directorates. Adham Sabry is a bilingual, highly skilled, military trained professional, who incorporated many hand-to-hand combat techniques into his style with a high skill of disguise.

Within the Forum's program that is held as part of the Dubai Film Market (DFM), Hani Osama took part in a panel discussion titled The Big Binge Theory. The discussion was about how VOD and streaming services have radically altered the TV landscape, how content is created, distributed and consumed, how to build suspense and hold an audience over many seasons, and how does the volume required by broadcasters affect the production process, financially and creatively.

The Dubai Film Market (DFM) is a unique platform that aims to raise the visibility of Arab cinema in the region and on an international level. The DFM is now considered as the leading industry platform in the region and the gateway to one of the fastest growing film and TV markets in the world. The DFM offers excellent visibility to buyers, sellers, service providers and industry professionals through exhibition spaces, networking opportunities and a thoughtfully curated film library.

Hepta: The Last Lecture became the highest-grossing romantic film in the history of the Egyptian cinema. Osama is currently working on turning writer Noor Abdulmajeed's duology Ana Shahira and Ana El Khayen into a 60-episode TV series split into two seasons. But the most recent and exciting project is adapting Nabil Farouk's novel Adham Sabry.
