Giving a Lecture about Co-Produced Film Models in the Arab World

Film Analyst Alaa Karkouti Participates in the Robert Bosch Stiftung Nominee Forum

Film Analyst Alaa Karkouti, CEO at MAD Solutions, is in Berlin to participate in Robert Bosch Stiftung Nominee Forum 2014, where he, along with other filmmakers from across Germany and the Arab World, will share their knowledge and experiences by training 12 nominated teams on the best and most advanced practices that would help them develop their film projects.

For four days, the participating teams will be mixing with industry professionals who would help shed more light on international co-productions between film institutions in Germany and the Arab world. Karkouti's lecture will draw on successful examples of co-produced films and their revenues in the Arab world.

The main goal of the Nominee Forum is the elaboration of the film project and the intercultural exchange between participants from Germany and the Arab world. In February 2014, the teams will be invited to pitch their projects to an international jury that will announce the winners at a gala hosted by the Berlinale Talents, within the framework of Berlin International Film Festival.

Granted by Robert Bosch Stiftung, the prize is of €60,000 and is awarded to3 of the participant teams in the following sections: Short Animation, Documentary, and Short Fiction, on the condition of producing the film in Germany and another participant country to enhance cultural exchange between countries.
