The 4th Cairo Film Connection (CFC) has announced extending the deadline for the call for film submissions till Friday, September 30th, 2015. A selection of 12 projects will be picked to be part of the CFC over the course of three days within the 38th Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) (15 -24 November). In addition, the CFC has announced selecting producer Hossam Elouan to join the Connection in his capacity as the Manager of this year's edition.
CFC offers monetary prizes for the film projects in development and production phases including; the First Prize ($ 10.000) for a film in development or production granted by New Century; the Best Egyptian Film Project Prize (EGP 60.000) granted by Al Massa Art Production; the Color Grading Prize at Aroma for a Film in Post-production Phase granted by Film Factory; and the Arab Cinema Center (ACC) Prize which is an invitation for a producer to attend the Producers' Workshop at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR).
Cairo Film Connection hosts filmmakers from all over the world, who have a project with an Arab connection (director, producer, co-producer, main talent, location, subject matter, etc...). Producers and directors with feature-length projects and feature-length creative documentaries either at the development or post-production phase are encouraged to apply.
CFC is hosting representatives of 12 projects in development and production phases to be part of the three-day course in Cairo to communicate with cinema industry delegates, local and international producers and distributors.
The connection aims at opening opportunities for talented filmmakers to meet and network with other entities that may be potential project partners. In addition, several cash prizes are offered to help the projects throughout their development and completion.
The 1st Cairo Film Connection was held in 34th Cairo International Film Festival 2010 and proved its importance as a worthwhile experience to the participants. In 2012, CFC held its second edition hosting a larger number of successful meetings between filmmakers and industry delegates. Many of the filmmakers who were invited to attend the two previous editions of CFC completed their films, all notable works, which achieved various successes in festivals all over the world. CFC will continue as a platform that empowers Arab filmmakers to take their projects to the widest audiences possible.
