Cairo Film Connection 2015 Opens the Call for Submissions
Cairo Film Connection (CFC) has opened the call for film entries for its 3rd annual installment at 37th Cairo International Film Festival taking place between November 17-19.
CFC is hosting filmmakers from all over the world, who have a project with an Arab connection (director, producer, co-producer, main talent, location, subject matter, etc.) Producers and directors are encouraged to apply with feature-length projects either at the development or post-production phase. Feature-length creative documentaries are also encouraged to apply.
CFC hopes to host approximately projects in development, as well as works-in-progress. The deadline for applications is July 31st, 2015. Following the deadline, a team of experts will evaluate the submissions and select a maximum of 12 projects. CFC will then invite the project representatives, the director and producer, to come to Cairo for 3 days during which they will have a schedule of one-to-one meetings with both local and international producers, distributors, as sales agents and distributors.
The goal of the co-production platform is to act as an opportunity to meet and network with other entities that may be potential project partners. In addition, several cash prizes will be offered to help the projects throughout their development and completion.
CFC was held for the first time in 2010 during the 34th Cairo International Film Festival and proved its importance as a worthwhile experience to the participants. In 2012, CFC held its second edition hosting a higher number of successful meetings between filmmakers and industry delegates. Many of the filmmakers who were invited to attend the two previous editions of CFC completed their films, all notable works which achieved various successes in festivals all over the world. CFC will continue as a platform that empowers Arab filmmakers to take their projects to the widest audiences possible.
